Barley groats provides a chewy texture and rich nutty flavour to soups, stews, broth, pilafs, and vegetable stuffing. They also make a great side dish as an alternative to rice or pasta, and any leftovers can be made into a tasty
Organic hulled barley is the whole grain with only the inedible spike-let removed. Barley is harvested with the hull intact. Barley has a chewy texture and mild grain flavour.Organic whole barley grain, with only the inedible spikelet removed.
Combine 1 part barley to 3 parts water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 1 hour.
You can also use barley to make a nutritious, hot grain coffee, spread it on a pan, then toast at 400ºF for 1 –1/2 hours or until it is richly brown. Stir every 20 minutes to roast evenly. When done, grind it in a blender to the consistency desired. Use as one would with regular coffee to achieve desired strength or flavour.
